Bloody Disgusting reports that, according to a trusted source, There Will Be Blooddirector Paul Thomas Anderson is planning to make his next film a horror movie. Most likely a
contemplative three-hour horror starring an ensemble cast (including Philip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, and Luis Guzman) who realize their tragic interconnectedness through a series of local murders, but a horror all the same. That sounds like a great departure, though.

I wouldn't really say Cloverfield was bad. It was a monster/disaster movie, shot from a handheld camera. Everyone knows that going into it, and that's exactly what you get. The characters are boring and you don't really care about them, but I think that makes them all the more believable. On the grand scheme of the history of film, no, it's not good. But compared to recent disaster and monster movies (independence day, godzilla 2000, The Day After Tomorrow...hell, even Jurassic Park 2 or whichever one the T-Rex runs loose in San Diego) I'd say it's at the top of it's game.
